In August 2001, a visit to the U.K. by Guruji Shri Chandra Bhanu Satpathy ji inspired a movement to spread the teachings and awareness of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba in the U.K. and other countries outside of India.

The spark He ignited resulted in Sai devotees coming together to meet on a regular basis to have satsangs (spiritual gatherings) where they would share experiences, meditate, read from the holy book "Shri Sai Satcharitra" and sing devotional songs.

Over the last decade this momentum gathered considerable pace, and the devotees started to imbibe some of the key principles of humanism, compassion, donation and service that Shri Sai would often encourage His devotees to follow.  This resulted in devotees organising events to help the poor and disadvantaged, spending time with and offering help to the elderly, and constantly working with people from other faiths to reiterate Shri Sai Baba's motto "Sab ka Malik Ek" (God is the Universal Ruler).

With the growth of activities and the number of devotees, it was decided in May 2014 to form a Not for Profit, faith based charitable organisation, named Shri Shirdi Sai Sansthan (UK) and we are fortunate to have Guruji C.B. Satpathy ji as our patron.

The core objectives of Shri Shirdi Sai Sansthan (UK) are:

  • Education – to spread the philosophy of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba through the distribution of books, music and other literature as well as discourses and discussions.

  • Places of Worship – to provide places of worship for followers within the homes of devotees, community centres and dedicated temples

  • Charitable Activities – to carry out activities that benefit, without discrimination, all members of the public, in particular free distribution of food and health and wellbeing programs.

The Trustees along with the support of a number of dedicated sevadars (devotees who give selfless service), have made it possible for Shri Shirdi Sai Sansthan (UK) to extend Shri Sai's teachings, through acts of selfless service into their local communities within the U.K.
